At least in my experience here in Los Angeles, the advent of the &quot;safe and sane&quot; show began in the early 90's after a TLC show at the Palladium. 

Apparently there were so many spent casings in the parking lot, you'd think you were at a pistol range. 

Ever since that fateful night of love songs, gunplay, and body bags, EVERY time I went to see a band, I found myself walking through metal detectors, emptying my pockets, and being patted down by off-duty LAPD cops in day-glo windbreakers...

When you're getting the LAX treatment at an ANGRY SAMOANS show, something is seriously wrong...</description>

I seem to remember a lefty blog done by a member of the God's Bullies (??). Speaking of the RMFers, I remember the name well but don't think I had any of their records ever except for that Scum Rock comp. Why not put up a track or two to preserve the sanctity of dangerous r'n'r??</description>
